Days 317-318/365: Halloween Prep

Oh how we love Halloween in this house. It comes in a close second to Christmas. We have kicked off early this year because we will be away for the week before the big day and we want to hit the ground running when we get back - especially as we will be jet lagged. Day 317 - Decopatch. We loved doing our deco patch skulls a couple of years ago and I really wanted to add to our home crafted Halloween decorations with a big BOO! It was the perfect project because everyone loves doing the decopatch and each kid got a letter of their own to work on. Day 318 - Today was a quiet day at home as we relaxed after a busy period at work and school and started to get ready for our big trip to NYC.  Bear has been doing some last minute research. She has never been on a plane before. It is all very exciting!

Days 306-316/365: Autumn Days... and Nights.

Autumn has definitely landed and we are loving it. Usually at this time of year I have feelings of sadness about summer being over, but this year I am totally fine with it. Maybe it is because we had such a great summer this year and I feel ready to move on without any pining for more of those long summer days. I'm ready for the cozy days in with knitting, TV, hot drinks and the odd family board game. I have been reading all about the Danish concept of hygge... and feel that I need more of that in my life. One down side to summer leaving is that it is taking the light with it. It is hard to return to those dark day photos and I might need to re-aquant myself with my flash soon. Day 306 - Ahhh, I am so excited to be finishing these mittens which have sat around untouched for over a year. Day 307 - We really do enjoy reading in our family and the boys are building up quite the collection of books. We love Astrid Lindgren and we are currently reading Karlson on the Roof.

Days 298-305/365: Eye Off the Ball

This week has probably been the most stressful and emotionally unsettling of my entire working life. Consequently, the photo project has suffered even more than usual and I even missed a day. I am past the 300 day mark now, so there really is only 60 or so days to go. I CAN do this. Day 298 - I really wanted to get a nice photo of mine and Bear's hands as a nice keepsake. It didn't quite go to plan because we weren't really in the mood and I had the Lensbaby on, which made it super tricky at close range. The photos really didn't come out well. They were pretty flat and I couldn't get the colour right.. so I slapped on a filter. I really do think that is cheating but at least I have more useable photos. Having watched so many photoshop tutorials now I am wondering how it would look if I could brush some of the filter off our hands. I haven't done that here though. Day 299 - I still had the Lensbaby on and snapped the first thing I could see.
