Day 131/365: Girl's Play

I spent a bit of time taking pictures of Bear playing with her doll house this evening. It is at times like this that I still cannot quite believe that I have a little girl. I have to admit that I like a bit of gentle play after all the years of Batman, Star Wars, Ben 10, pirates, solders, and Thomas the Tank Engine play. Of course, I feel lucky to have had a turn of that too. In fact, I rather miss the Thomas the Tank Engine days.

My 50mm was not so "nifty" this evening and yet again I found myself yearning for a 35mm. It was so difficult to get enough distance for some shots and it was seriously struggling to focus on a number of occasions. I had to give up on the outer focus points because it just couldn't manage it. As usual I was shooting wide open, with a high ISO and slow shutter speed. I kept thinking about how much better it would be to have more light, a quicker more reliable lens, and a shorter focal length. As it is, I ended up with quite a few out of focus, poorly composed, grainy shots. I was lazy and didn't set my white balance either. So the colours are a bit off and the exposure isn't brilliant. Sigh!
