Days 146-148/365: Forty

It was my 40th birthday this week. I know that some people take this sort of thing in their stride but I think that it is a pretty big deal. I usually agree that I don't feel any different after a birthday, but with this one I sort of do actually. I have been thoroughly spoilt by everyone and that has been a wonderful distraction from thinking too much about it but some big thoughts keep coming back to me. I am not so bothered by getting older. A lovely friend of my posts this quote every year. I totally agree with this attitude, especially as so many people around me have died or were diagnosed with life threatening illnesses over the past couple of years. I used to think that 40 would be my midpoint, but now I find myself hoping that it will. There is a very real chance that I have more years behind me than before me and that scares and saddens me.  Time suddenly feels very precious and I don't want to waste any of it. It is great that this view also comes at a ti...

Days 141-145/365: Disneyland Paris

This is the year of my 40th birthday and I knew that I wanted to do something pretty big. I am told that most people take their 40th in their stride, but I think that it is a pretty big deal. I can't escape the thought that, all being well (fingers crossed), I am now roughly halfway through my life. I have to admit to finding that scary. I mean, the first half went quick enough and I have so much that I want to achieve. I am also conscious that the kids are growing so fast and there are so many things that I want to experience with them while they are still young.  So, I have been thinking more about the concept of a bucket list and now I have two! They aren't written down or anything, although perhaps they should be. I have a long forgotten personal bucket list that had become rather dusty and neglected for the past decade as I was busy with getting the kids up and running. There are things that have been sitting on that list since I was about 10 years old... that's 30 ...

Days 136-140/365: Welcome to the Family Baby E!

We were so excited to meet the family's newest member a couple of weekends ago - Baby E. She is absolutely adorable and we love her to pieces already. Of course I was very excited to take lots of photos of her and try my hand at newborn photography. Day 136 - Baby E It was wonderful to take photos of Baby E and I learned loads from the experience. I can't wait to see her again to take more photos.  To be perfectly honest, I pretty much took filler photos for the rest of last week. We were working our way up to a very exciting weekend and photography took a bit of a back seat... again! Day 137 - Bear's Room Day 138 - Last minute bedtime shots with varied perspectives in mind. Day 139 - Bath time Day 140 - Reflection And then on Day 141 we packed our bags and did something very exciting for the weekend. I have lots of photos to edit before I post it up though, so bear with me...
