Life Inside the Doll House

Sigh! Back to indoor shooting before bedtime. It is so difficult after a week of well lit outdoor shots. Feeling very uninspired tonight so this is a filler post for sure. I am on the outlook for red  this week as it is the theme of the 52 project.

I'm back! We had a wonderful trip to Ireland to visit family and friends and I think that I probably took at least 1000 photos. I'm not even kidding. I will spare you the torture of posting all of them here and aim for a quick summary of what we got up to. I had zero internet access during the time we were in Ireland. Luckily I have Lightroom on my laptop so I was able to edit a bit as I went. Having said that, it was a little bit more fiddly than my computer at home so I am not quite sure how they turned out yet. Day 279 - The ferry to Ireland. The kids were super excited as you can see. Disco car... Day 280 - We spent most of the day relaxing/recovering after the journey but then had a burst of energy in Granny B's garden that evening. We are on route to Ireland via Granny L's house. Today was all about packing, cleaning and travelling on the road. I didn't fancy getting the camera out for the cleaning and packing but I had a lot of fun taking pictures from the passenger seat of the car. I had the joy of ISO 100; f/11 and 24mm. I have recently learned to put the focus on manual and set to infinity, which is great for situations like this. I just love the fact that these sort of shots can be so hit and miss. Every now and again you find one that you really like. It really helped the journey to pass quickly... for me anyway. 

Some weeks are just about survival and this was one of them. Illness floors us for weeks these days and it feels like we are just about keeping our head above water. Luckily we are having a little holiday this week. I am hoping that I come out the other end feeling more refreshed and full of the joys of life. The theme of the 52 project this week is Black and White . So it was a heavy black and white photo few days. Day 275 Day 276. I took this one at the very last minute, just after a shower, because I almost forgot to take a picture at all. This is all I have got from that day and I feel I have to post it. I do not usually post almost naked picture of myself on the internet. For the record I am wearing a towel! Day 277. Today. My beautiful magnolia tree is in full bloom. I love this tree.  So there we have it. I might be offline for a few days as we are going on a little trip, but rest assured that I will still be clicking away. 

We had planned to go to the beach today and I was delighted to wake to beautiful blue skies this morning. Now that the weather is getting warmer, I hope to spend a lot more time outdoors. I had the unusual luxury of using my Tamron at ISO 100 and f/5.6 with more than enough shutter speed to capture the action. It was fantastic!  There are lots of dunes at the beach we chose. The kids had a blast running and sliding down them.  The water was still pretty cold so we didn't bother too much with it. A quick paddle is a must though.  And that is the end of our Easter weekend. It's back to work tomorrow. Sigh!
