Day 365/365: Complete!

Well here it is! Today is the final day of my 365 project.

I actually feel far more emotional about it than I expected to. Right now I can't even look back over the earlier posts, mostly because I can clearly see how much the kids have grown and changed in one short year. That of course reinforces to me that this has been one of the most amazing things that I have ever done. I started the project pretty much on a whim and I had no idea if I could finish it or not. I literally decided overnight that I was going to do it and would start a blog to document the process. That sort of spontaneity is very unlike me. I have just taken it one day at a time and tried not to focus too much on the bigger picture. My goal was to improve my photography skills and get lots and lots of decent pictures of the kids in the mean time. I feel that I have certainly achieved those things. I have learned so much in this past year.

Today was a typical Monday, which was bad news for my photo taking. It is always a busy day with lots of stress and activity. I don't usually have much time for photo taking and today was no exception. It would have been great to have taken some celebration pictures to mark the occasion but we went with a crazy photo blast before bedtime. I like what we got though as it tells it as it is. This project and blog have always been about an honest portrayal of our family life. These are pretty honest as we were all tired and a mess. The lighting is pretty terrible too. However, one of the most important things I have learned is to get into the frame with the kids.

I have to be honest and say that I am looking forward to not taking a picture every single day from now on. However, I am also nervous that I won't take enough pictures. It would be so easy to get out of the habit of taking pictures, miss so much of the kids growth and lose skills instead of gaining more.

I need a plan to move forward with, but I haven't come up with one yet. I do intend to keep this blog alive and continue to document my growth as a photographer.

Thank you to those of you who have followed along. It really has been the most amazing journey for me. It is beyond amazing to have documented one whole year in our family life. It has been a good year for us.
