Days 39-40/365: Date Night In the Big City

As planned, I brought my camera with me to work on Wednesday. I was meeting up with my husband for a (rare) date night that evening, so it was bring the camera or no photos. It gave me a wonderful opportunity to take some landscape and building pictures, which felt very different. Challenging, but good different. Photographing buildings is a whole different kettle of fish. As difficult as it is to photograph bouncy children, at least you can direct them towards the light. Not so with buildings. Wo knew? Another issue is that you cannot instruct other people to get out of the frame.... I am starting to sound like a control freak, so here are my photos for day 39.

This was our first "date" in London for 9 or so years. I love London at night and it feels like a very significant step forward for us. We ate at dim t, a chain restaurant offering delicious dim sum. Yum! I love it's logo.

See! There are uninvited people in my picture of City Hall. The light was luxurious though. Such a low ISO with the aperture and shutter speed that I wanted. No compromises.

My husband knows this building, but I forget the name of it. I liked it though.

A return to the Tower of London.

Beautiful Tower Bridge at night. Light all gone. Compromise, compromise, compromise.

Today, I had to grab a quick photo and move on. Rexy has been super keen to get a pair of slippers. Our neighbours, who are Mexican, have told him that instead of the tooth fairy they have a tooth mouse who leaves toys in exchange for teeth left in your slippers. Rexy is eager to test this mouse out. We have the slippers but no wobbly teeth at the moment.

We bought the slippers on Amazon and they arrived yesterday. Rexy is very pleased with them. Very pleased indeed.

I took a few pictures like this one. How is it that other people can make a picture like this look really good? There is something not quite right about the composition. Perhaps the direction of the lines on the floor?

I read this great article about cheap macro filters and now I am very tempted to get some. I love macro photography.
